Pregnant Woman and Husband Killed in Karachi Water Tanker Collision

The newborn, delivered in critical condition following the accident, also did not survive.

In a tragic incident near Malir Halt in Karachi on Monday, a water tanker collided with a motorcycle, resulting in the deaths of a pregnant woman and her husband.

The newborn, delivered in critical condition following the accident, also did not survive.

Media reports indicated that the man was en route to the hospital with his pregnant wife for delivery when the fatal crash occurred.

Rescue sources reported that the accident occurred near Malir Halt, where the water tanker ran over the motorcycle-riding couple.

According to police, the wife was pregnant and gave birth to the child in an injured state; however, the newborn also passed away.

The police have arrested the driver and taken the water tanker into custody. The accident is suspected to have been caused by brake failure of the water tanker.

Authorities stated that the tanker was coming from the highway and, while speeding under the Malir Halt bridge towards Shahrah-e-Faisal, it struck the motorcycle-riding couple.

This incident highlights the growing concern over traffic accidents involving heavy vehicles in Karachi. Earlier this year, various traffic accidents involving motorcycles and heavy vehicles resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries.

Authorities are urged to implement stricter traffic regulations and ensure regular maintenance checks on heavy vehicles to prevent such tragedies in the future
