President Asif Ali Zardari has embarked on a five-day state visit to China, commencing on February 4, 2025.
Upon his arrival at Beijing International Airport on Tuesday, he was welcomed by the Chinese Finance Minister, Mr. Lan Fo’an.

During this visit, Zardari is scheduled to engage in high-level discussions with Chinese leaders, including President Xi Jinping and Premier Li Qiang. The agenda will focus on enhancing economic and trade cooperation, security collaboration, and the advancement of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
This trip marks Zardari’s first official visit to China since taking office in March 2024 and underscores the longstanding strategic partnership between Pakistan and China.
Additionally, Zardari will attend the inaugural ceremony of the 9th Asian Winter Games in Harbin, Heilongjiang province, at the special invitation of the Chinese government.
The visit aims to reinforce bilateral relations amidst evolving geopolitical dynamics and recent security challenges in Pakistan.
According to a statement released by the FO, the state visit will be from Feb 4 to Feb 8 during which the president will hold meetings with the Chinese leadership, including Chinese President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang and other senior leaders in Beijing.
“The discussions will encompass the full spectrum of Pakistan-China relations, with a particular focus on economic and trade cooperation; counter-terrorism and security collaboration; China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and future connectivity initiatives,” the statement read.
This visit comes after President Asif Ali Zardari congratulated Chinese President Xi Jinping on the occasion of the Chinese Spring Festival and the arrival of the Year of the Snake, last week.
In his message, President Zardari expressed his strong commitment to further strengthening the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and China.
He also conveyed his eagerness to meet with President Xi in Beijing to discuss enhancing bilateral cooperation.
