On 13 December 2020, Ismaili Community around the world is celebrating their Mawlana Hazar Imam’s 84th birthday.
Prince Karim Aga Khan was born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1936.
He succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Muhammad Shah, founder and first president of the All-India Muslim League, to become the 49th Imam at the age of twenty on July 13, 1957.
According to Ismaili Muslims belief, the hereditary Imam-of-the-Time descended from the progeny of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) through his cousin and son-in-law, Hazrat Ali, and his daughter, Hazrat Bibi Fatima.
Prince Karim Aga Khan has been recognised as an influential and respected leader on the world stage.
The government of Pakistan, in recognition of his innumerable efforts and contributions to the development and social upliftment of societies, has awarded him with the Nishan-e-Imtiaz and the Nishan-e-Pakistan.
