Dozens of people in Lebanon, who took to streets south of Beirut, cheered a 15-month-old baby singing “Baby Shark,” the song that’s become an anthem for toddlers around the globe.
Eliane Jabbour was driving through streets in Beirut, Lebanon’s capital, with her little son Robin on Saturday night when a group of protestors with Lebanese flags surrounded their car.
“I told them, ‘I have a baby, don’t be too loud,’ ” she told CNN.
Jabbour, who captured the video, later shared on social media as the protestors began singing “Baby Shark” for the toddler watching wide-eyed at the all-singing, all-dancing group and then glancing at his mother as he grabbed his bottle while sitting in the passenger seat of the car.
The crowd of demonstrators shared big smiles and even singled out the song’s signature dance move, clapping their arms together like a shark eating.
The video quickly gripped everyone’s attention on social media and has gone viral. The short clip has bagged 108K views and 2.2K likes on Twitter.
While the Twitter user mentioned alongside the video, that “Our people are the best!”, others too were quick to comment that the video was “cute” or “awesome”.quick to respond to it.
“I loke it. This is the real way on how we treat babies… but he must be sitting in a baby seat behind for his safety!” a user wrote.
The protests sparked on Thursday after Lebanon’s government planned new taxes — including one on a feature on the popular messaging app WhatsApp. Protestors are also demonstrating against the country’s government, in which power is given to political and business elites, and how many citizens are unable to access basic services, reports said.
