Protests erupt in Karachi against Imran Khan’s possible arrest

Protests erupt in Karachi against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan’s possible arrest on Tuesday.

PTI supporters took to the streets in several localities in Karachi putting blockades on several main roads.

The protestors blocked roads, burned tyres, and raise slogans against the government.

Protest of PTI workers is reported to be continuing in different areas of Karachi, while major highways were blocked including Orangi Town, 4K, Five Star Chowrangi, Dawood Chowrangi, Maripur Road, Qayyumabad, Star Gate, Shaheen Complex, Sohrab Goth, Hassan Square and Teen Talwar.

Police shelled the protesters at Shaheen Complex, who were pelting the force with stones.

The Korangi Industrial Area road was reported to be completely closed.

Later, the protesters dispersed and I.I. Chundrigar Road was opened for traffic.

On the other hand, Imran Khan is still not arrested despite the hours-long stand-off at Zaman Park, Lahore.

On Tuesday, a heavy contingent of police reached Lahore’s Zaman Park in a bid to arrest former prime minister Imran Khan in the Toshakana case — the only case in which his arrest warrant is not suspended.
