Imran Khan’s Sisters, PTI Leaders Detained Amid Protests Outside Adiala Jail

Barrister Gohar, Barrister Ali Zafar, and party leader Razia Sultana were eventually granted permission to meet Imran Khan inside the jail.

Protests broke out near Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi on Tuesday after PTI supporters, including Imran Khan’s sisters, were denied permission to visit him.

The demonstrations turned violent with stone-throwing, prompting police to detain several individuals, including PTI leaders and Imran Khan’s sisters.

The police offered to facilitate a meeting for two of Imran Khan’s sisters and a cousin, but not for Aleema Khan.

Despite this, protests continued, leading to the detention of multiple PTI workers and leaders.

However, Imran Khan’s sisters — Aleema and Uzma Khan — along with Qasim Khan Niazi were barred from entering the jail premises.

In a statement, Aleema expressed confusion over the authorities’ reaction, saying, “It’s just family here, no one else. I don’t understand why they’re so nervous.”

She claimed that the authorities had clearly communicated that the family was not permitted to meet the incarcerated PTI founder. “They told us we’re not allowed inside. But why not?” she questioned.

Aleema further revealed that they had been denied a meeting for the past three weeks. “Once again today, police have been stationed here to prevent us from seeing him.”

“How are we supposed to feel if not upset under these circumstances?” she remarked.

She also stated that if they continued to be denied access, they would remain outside the jail. “We’re deeply distressed. It’s been three weeks and we still haven’t been allowed to meet him,” she added.

Following hours of protests and negotiations, six prominent lawyers — including Barrister Gohar, Barrister Ali Zafar, and party leader Razia Sultana — were eventually granted permission to meet Imran Khan inside the jail.

Despite this development, tensions persisted as reports of additional clashes continued to surface throughout the day.
