PTA to reduce mobile phone calls rates from Jan 01, 2022!
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Friday announced a reduction in Mobile Termination Rate (MTR) — an amount that a Cellular Mobile Operator (CMO) charges another mobile operator for terminating its off-net calls on its network.
PTA in a statement said that the mobile termination rates on outgoing calls have been reduced from 70 paise to 50 paise per minute.
According to the statement, the mobile termination rate (MTR) would now be 50 paise per minute from January 1, 2022.
The reduction in the MTR was made in consultation with the telecom industry, PTA stated.
The mobile termination rate would also be reduced to 40 paise per minute from July 2022 and after July 2023, it would be reduced to 30 paise only, it added.
“PTA is of the view that lowering MTR would allow more competitive and innovative offerings such as free minute off-net bundles for the consumers,” the authority said.
