Pakistan Telecommunication Authority, PTA has issued a clarification about a notification being circulated on various social media platforms about the suspension of a telecom company’s services in the country. The notification circulating is fake and has urged the public to refrain from spreading this fake news.
The notification being circulated in social media is misleading the general public, asking them to switch to another mobile network or consume their mobile credit before December 11, 2019, making a false claim that the services of a private company would no longer be available in the country.
In a statement issued on social media, PTA stated, “PTA is aware of a false advertisement circulating via WhatsApp chat groups for users of a mobile operator. PTA clarifies that the aforementioned advertisement is fake”.
And has urged the public to refrain from circulating it since it might generate confusion and inconvenience for consumers.
Furthermore, PTA said that the public is advised to always check official information sources such as PTA’s website or its Twitter & Facebook page for the latest news and updates.
