PTI Core Committee Meet in Peshawar After Flop Power Show: Internal Dynamics Revealed

During the meeting, a heated exchange occurred between Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi

A meeting of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) core committee took place in Peshawar on November 28, 2024, following the party’s recent march to Islamabad, which was called off for the third time.

The meeting was held at the Chief Minister’s House and focused on the current political situation in Pakistan, particularly in light of recent protests that resulted in fatalities and injuries among demonstrators and security personnel.

Key discussions included strategies for addressing the needs of families affected by the protests, as well as planning future actions in response to the political climate. PTI Chairman Gohar Ali Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur were among the prominent figures present at the meeting.

The Islamabad march, which occurred on November 24, saw thousands of PTI supporters converge on the capital despite significant roadblocks and disruptions to communication services. The protests were marked by violence, leading to at least six deaths and numerous arrests as law enforcement attempted to disperse crowds.

Following this turmoil, PTI leaders urged supporters to return home after being unable to maintain a sustained presence at the protest site, indicating a shift in their approach.

Internal Dynamics of PTI Core Committee Meeting Revealed

According to PTI sources, a heated exchange of words took place between Ali Amin Gandapur and Bushra Bibi during the meeting.

Gandapur reportedly remarked that they are “soldiers of the founder, not of anyone else” in response to Bibi’s comments.

Sources further stated that Core Committee members harshly criticized the central leadership. The members lashed out at Arif Alvi for not mobilizing the workers. This discontent was palpable as members questioned who would lead the workers, emphasizing a lack of clarity on leadership decisions.

Interestingly, during the discussions, Bushra Bibi defended former President Arif Alvi, which led to Gandapur reprimanding her for her stance. This incident highlights the internal divisions within the committee regarding loyalty and support for leadership figures.

The meeting also featured a vigorous debate regarding statements made by Shaukat Yousafzai about Bushra Bibi. Former Speaker Mushtaq Ghani sided with Yousafzai, while Bibi expressed her displeasure over his remarks, showcasing ongoing tensions among committee members.
