PTI leader Asad Umar arrested by anti-terror squad from IHC premises

A case against Asad Umar was registered on Tuesday for violating the Section 144.

PTI leader Asad Umar was arrested by the anti-terror squad from the Islamabad High Court’s Diary branch premises on Wednesday.

The personnel of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) arrested the PTI leader for violating Section 144 imposed in the federal capital on Tuesday.


The Islamabad police’s CTD officials arrested Umar from outside the IHC Bar Room where he and other PTI leaders were preparing a plea to be filed file in the IHC seeking a meeting with PTI Chairman Imran Khan.

A case was registered against Asad Umar on Tuesday for violating Section 144.

PTI Vice Chairman Shah Mahmood Qureshi, Senator Saifullah Sarwar Khan Nyazee, Malik Bukhari, and Ghulam Sarwar Khan were also with Asad Umar at the time of the arrest when the Anti-Terrorim Squad took him in custody and left in a flash.

The police also tried arresting Shah Mahmood Qureshi, however, the lawyers and other party workers thwarted the police from picking up the PTI vice chairman and he managed to flee from the spot.
