PTI leaders Shireen Mazari, Dr Yasmin Rashid arrested
The police crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders shows no signs of slowing down
PTI leaders Shireen Mazari and Dr. Yasmin Rashid were arrested from separate locations in the wee hours of Friday.
Senior PTI leader Shireen Mazari was taken into custody by the Islamabad Police in the wee hours of Friday, according to PTI.
Imaan Hazir-Mazari, the daughter of Mazari and a lawyer, shared a video on Twitter that claims men dressed in plain clothes forcefully entered her house to arrest the former minister.
As per the party’s statement, Dr. Yasmeen was taken into custody however, the PTI did not provide any specific information about the location of her arrest.
A statement posted on PTI’s official Twitter account said: “PTI’s Iron Lady Dr Yasmin Rashid has been arrested! They think they can stop this movement by these arrests, they don’t know that Pakistan has changed forever. We are all Imran Khan now.”
According to PTI leader Andaleeb Abbas, the former minister was hiding to avoid arrest.
“Police had taken her close family members into custody two days ago but her husband was released after his health deteriorated. Her brother-in-law is still in police custody,” she said.
As per the sources, a number of cases have been filed against Dr Yasmin Rashid including that of an attack on Lahore Corps Commander’s residence.
The police crackdown on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leaders shows no signs of slowing down as a few other PTI leaders including Khusro Baktiar, Afzal Sahi, and Bilal Basra have also been rounded up and shifted to Lahore’s Sarwar Road Police Station.
