Public holiday announced on Feb 5 on account of Kashmir Solidarity Day

The federal government has announced a public holiday to be observed on February 5, 2021, on account of Kashmir Solidarity Day.

The government of Pakistan has said that Kashmir Day is being observed to “signify political and moral support in their struggle for self-determination and to honour” Kashmiri martyrs.

A notification issued by the Ministry of Interior stated that 5th February 2021 shall be a public holiday for observing Kashmir Solidarity Day.

Furthermore, a  one-minute silence will be observed at 10:00 am on February 5 in solidarity with the Kashmiris.

Rallies, public meetings, and seminars will be held across the country, including Azad Kashmir, aiming to draw the international community’s attention towards grave human rights violations and brutalities against innocent Kashmiris by the Indian security forces.

Pakistan each year mark 5 of Feburay in solidarity with Kashmir to supports the just struggle of its people for their inalienable right to self-determination under United Nations resolutions. 

On 5 August 2019, India revoked the special status of held Kashmir in breach of all international laws and putting the entire population of the occupied territory under lockdown.
