Punjab Govt Issues SOPs to Ensure Civilian Safety Amid Threat of Armed Attacks
The SOPs stress the importance of following official alerts, remaining calm, and assisting vulnerable neighbours.

The Punjab government has issued Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure civilian safety amid the threat of armed conflict or aerial attacks.
These guidelines, released by the Service and General Administration Department Welfare Wing on May 7, advise residents to:
-
Designate secure indoor spaces for shelter.
-
Prepare emergency kits containing essentials such as water, non-perishable food, flashlights, medicines, and first-aid items.
-
Use stairwells instead of lifts during evacuations.
These measures aim to help citizens stay safe during potential attacks and are part of broader security preparations in the region due to heightened tensions and recent missile strikes in Punjab by Indian forces.
Additionally, public events have been cancelled in border districts, and authorities have placed these areas on high alert to enhance public safety. The Punjab Police are supporting the Indian Army as a second line of defence, and the government has urged citizens to strictly follow all safety orders.
These SOPs are part of a comprehensive response by the Punjab government to protect civilians amid ongoing cross-border hostilities and missile strikes targeting civilian areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir.
