The decision was made during the fourth meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development

The Punjab government has decided to impose new House Sanitation Charges across the province.

The Punjab government decided to impose sanitation charges on households as part of its efforts to improve waste management and sanitation services across the region. However during a meeting in Lahore, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz ordered a reduction in the proposed sanitation charges by over 50%.

This move aims to enhance the efficiency and quality of sanitation services, ensuring cleaner and healthier environments for residents.

As reported, the senitation charges of Rs. 300 for 5 marla and Rs. 500 for 10 marla houses will be imposed. In rural areas, the charges will be Rs. 200 for up to 10 marla houses and Rs. 500 for larger houses.

The decision was made during the fourth meeting of the Cabinet Standing Committee on Finance and Development, held under the chairmanship of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.

According to the news source, in the meeting, a proposal was made to increase water charges for private sector hydropower projects, while rejecting this idea, CM Maryam Nawaz said that there was a fear that electricity would become more expensive due to the increase in water charges for hydropower projects.
