Punjab Schools to Reopen Tomorrow Following Ceasefire
Board Exams in Lahore will also resume tomorrow, May 12

All public and private educational institutions across Punjab, Pakistan, will reopen on Monday, May 12, following a temporary closure triggered by recent Pakistan-India tensions.
The decision was announced by Punjab Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, who confirmed that schools, colleges, and universities will resume normal operations as the security situation has now stabilized.
The closures, which began on May 7, were a response to a series of Indian drone strikes targeting areas in Punjab and Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK). As a precaution, the education department suspended classes across the province to ensure the safety of students and staff.
Furthermore, the intermediate and matriculation Board exams in Lahore will resume tomorrow (May 12), according to a notification by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE).
“Theory paper of Intermediate Part-II (Mathematics, Biology & Fine Arts (Morning Session), Mathematics & Biology (Evening Session) … and practicals of Biology, Computer Science and Art & Model Drawing (First Annual) Examinations 2025 onwards, shall resume with effect from May 12,” the notification.
It added that candidates appearing for theory papers of Intermediate and Practicals of SSC (First Annual) Examinations, 2025, are required to reach their already allotted examination centres and laboratories as per the scheduled time mentioned on their roll number slips and date sheets.
The escalation also led to the postponement of major board examinations, including those administered by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) in Lahore, Multan, and other regions. Postponed exams include Quran translation, ethics, and various practical papers.
