Punjab’s 830 neighborhoods put under micro smart lockdown as corona cases surge

The authorities in Punjab have imposed a micro smart lockdown over 830 neighborhoods after a total of 1,416 coronavirus cases were reported from these areas.

The highest number of cases were reported in Lahore, where 435 areas have been sealed. 

In Faisalabad 34 areas, in  Bahawalpur 37,  in Gujranwala 14, and 47 areas have been sealed in Rawalpindi.

“The residents of these areas have been instructed to quarantine themselves at home for 14 days,” the province’s health department’s spokesperson said.

In the last 24 hours, Punjab has reported 283 new coronavirus cases and three additional fatalities, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal.

The provincial tally of COVID-19 cases surge to 104,554 and total number of fatalities to 2,365.
