Quetta Double Road blast leaves three dead, several injured, including two children

The blast targeted a police van on routine patrol, severely injuring officers inside the vehicle.

An explosion near a police vehicle in Quetta’s Barech Market on Double Road on Thursday resulted in three fatalities and 21 injuries, with four of the wounded in critical condition.

Among the injured were four policemen. The blast occurred in a crowded area, and the wreckage of a motorcycle and a damaged Suzuki Alto were seen near the charred police pickup truck.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.

The injured were moved to Civil Hospital’s trauma center, and investigations into the nature of the blast are ongoing.

Balochistan has witnessed a surge in violence recently, with separatist groups like the Balochistan Liberation Army (BLA) targeting security forces and civilians.

This incident follows a pattern of attacks in the region, including a recent roadside bomb that killed an Anti-Terrorist Force member and injured six others.

President Asif Ali Zardari strongly condemned the blast and expressed deep sorrow and regret over the loss of precious lives in the terrorist attack.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the Quetta blast, directed an investigation into the incident and brought the culprits to justice.

The prime minister offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayed for the departed souls. The premier also directed the provision of the best medical facilities to the injured.

“We will not allow the miscreants’ nefarious designs to succeed,” the PM said and vowed to continue the war against terrorism until it’s completely eradicated from the country.

In a statement posted on X, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also condemned the explosion and expressed sorrow over the deaths.

“We equally share in the grief of the families of the deceased,” Naqvi said.
