R. Kelly slapped with 11 new counts of sexual abuse

R&B superstar R Kelly has been charged with 11 new sex crimes by the Chicago prosecutors on Thursday.

The 52-year-old, Robert Kelly, is already facing 10 felony counts, filed in February for the alleged abuse of four women. Though the celebrity star has denied the charges and claimed his accusers are lying.

But according to Kelly’s lawyer Steve Greenberg these latest counts have refiled charges related to one of the four accusers and not a new case.

Greenberg on Twitter said these are the same conduct, just charged differently, the same alleged victim, same time frame, same facts. We expect the same results.

“It doesn’t change the facts; it doesn’t change how we’re going to approach the case”, Greenberg wrote.

In another tweet, he wrote: “Kelly was NOT charged with a new case. He was recharged in an existing case, same alleged victim and time (a decade ago) It changes nothing”.

As being reported, the11 charges handed down by a grand jury in Chicago are connected to the January 2010 alleged sexual assault and abuse of a person identified in court documents only as JP.

According to the details revealed, three of the charges are for the sexual abuse of a child between 13 and 16 years old. In some of the other counts, Kelly has been accused of having threatened or used force against JP.

The singer who is currently out on bail, will appear in court June 6 on the new charges, reports US media.

Kelly has multiple allegations of sexual misconduct against him dating back 25 years.

Earlier in January Lady Gaga’s collaboration with rapper R Kelly was removed from streaming services. The song, ‘Do What U Want (With My Body)’, was removed after Gaga tweeted her apology for working with Kelly, after being accused of sexual misconduct by multiple women, as he featured in Lifetime documentary ‘Surviving R Kelly.’
