Rain with Thunderstorm Breaks Heat Wave in Karachi; Power Outages Hit Several Areas

The rain prediction for Karachi indicates a continuation of thunderstorms and rain over the next several days.

Karachi experienced heavy rain accompanied by thunder and lightning on Thursday night, bringing relief from the intense heat.

Various areas, including Malir, Gulshan-e-Ma’mar, Gulshan-e-Hadeed, Gulistan-e-Johar, New Karachi, Saddar, and I.I. Chundrigar Road, witnessed light to heavy showers.

Other localities, such as Saadi Town, Malir Cantt, Safora Chowrangi, University Road, Nazimabad, Federal B Area, Azizabad, Tariq Road, Bahria Town, Gadap, North Karachi, Scheme 33 and Surjani, also experienced continuous heavy rainfall.

The rain significantly reduced the heat, providing much-needed respite to the residents. However, the downpour led to the tripping of 300 feeders of K-Electric, plunging areas like Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, Nazimabad, Surjani, Gadap, and Gulshan-e-Memar into darkness.

Power outages were also reported in Liaquatabad, Korangi, Old City Area, and Jamshed Road, causing difficulties for the citizens.

K-Electric spokesperson warned that the unsafe use of electrical appliances in rain and standing water can lead to accidents.

Citizens were advised to keep a safe distance from TV cables, internet wires, and broken electric wires. Illegal electricity connections and tampering with meters can result in fatal accidents.

Due to water accumulation in low-lying areas, temporary power shutdowns may be implemented as a safety measure. K-Electric is currently assessing the situation, and its field staff remains on alert to restore power promptly.

The rain prediction for Karachi indicates a continuation of thunderstorms and rain over the next several days. On Friday, June 27, 2025, a few strong morning thunderstorms are expected.

Saturday will see strong morning thunderstorms as well.

On Sunday, there is a chance of a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Monday is forecasted to be windy with some rain, and Tuesday will have a bit of rain in the morning.
