Ramazan 2020: First roza in Pakistan to commence on Saturday 25th of April

Ramazan the holy month of fasting will commence on Saturday the 25th of April in Pakistan as the new moon was not sighted today.

“Ramadan moon not sighted today. The first fast will be on the 25th April”, announced Chairman Central Route Hilal Committee Mufti Muneeb-ur-Rehman.

Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee met in Karachi to sight the Ramazan moon.

The meeting was be presided by the committee’s Chairman Mufti Munibur Rehman.

Earlier on April 11, the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the crescent heralding the holy month of Ramazan will be sighted across Pakistan on Friday, April 24 whereas Saturday, April 25 will be the first day of fasting.

Meanwhile, Australia, Egypt, Tunisia, Lebanon, Malaysia, Indonesia, SriLanka, and Singapore have made announcements for Ramazan to be starting from 24th April 2020.

Saudia Arabia and UAE will also observe the first of Ramazan on Friday, 24th of April.

The UAE’s moon-sighting committee made the announcement late on Thursday.

The holy month of fasting, the ninth month of Islamic Calendar, is observed by Muslims around the world lasts for 29 or 30 days (lunar cycle), and is dependent on the Hijri or Islamic calendar.
