Rana Sanaullah acquitted in narcotics case

In the acquittal petition filed by Rana Sanaullah, it was held that the case against him is based on lies and fabricated.

Rana Sanaullah has been acquitted in the narcotics case on Saturday.

A special court in Lahore acquitted Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanullah in a narcotics case filed against him during the PTI government’s tenure.

ANF Assistant Director Imtiaz Ahmed and Inspector Ehsaan Azam dismissed the charges against Sanaullah, declaring them “wrong” during today’s hearing.

On this occasion, the two witnesses also submitted their affidavits in the court in which it was said that no drugs were recovered before us.

The special anti-narcotics court took a fifteen-minute break in the hearing, after which the special court acquitted Rana Sanaullah while accepting the acquittal request of Rana Sanaullah in the drug trafficking case.

The court also acquitted all other co-accused.

Earlier today, in the acquittal petition filed by Rana Sanaullah, it was held that the case against him is based on lies and fabricated.

It added that the case was filed against him on political grounds, citing a statement by PTI leader Fawad Chaudhry in the petition, saying that the former minister had clearly said that the case was against the Imran Khan government. He was not registered on the request, but a case was registered against him by the influential personalities of the country.

The federal minister requested the court to acquit him of the case on the basis of equality and justice.

It should be noted that in the previous regime in July 2019, Rana Sanaullah was arrested by the anti-narcotics force of Lahore when he was travelling on the motorway from Faisalabad to Lahore Rawal Toll Plaza.

After the hearing, Rana Sanaullah while talking to the media said that President Dr Arif Alvi is trying to facilitate the talks. “The cases against the PDM leaders are being disposed of on merit. The practice of filing false cases against political opponents should be shunned,” he added.

Rana Sanaullah said that the UK-based newspaper Daily Mail had tendered an apology for filing the baseless story against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.

“PTI leadership should also apologize. PTI leadership is hell-bent on destroying the country for the sake of politics,” he added.
