Three areas of Rawalpindi in the vicinity of Sadiqabad Police Station have been sealed by the administration as a precautionary measure to stop a possible coronavirus outbreak.
According to reports, the decision to seal the area was taken after the emergence of 5 COVID-19 cases from these neighbourhoods.
The areas – including Dhok Kashmiriyan, Magistrate Colony and Dhok Paracha, sealed by a large contingent of police, Rangers and Pakistan Army assisting the civil administration in the process while people were asked to stay at home through the loudspeaker.
According to SP Rawal division Mazhar Iqbal, 37 persons have been placed in quarantine after they reportedly came in close contact with the coronavirus patients.
“With the help of law enforcement agencies, the areas have been completely sealed and security personnel are guarding the area to prevent mobility of people”, he said, adding that” grocery stores are allowed to operate in the area,” he said.
“The measure has been taken to slow down the pace of the spread of coronavirus in the area, this would also ensure that people would stay inside their homes and avoid contracting the contagious disease,” SP Iqbal added.
The area was also sprayed with the chlorinated water with the efforts of Rawalpindi Waste Management Company and the members of Rescue 1122.
