The Federal Minister for Education Shafqat Mahmood has said that education is the basic element for the development of any society.
According to details, addressing the inaugural event of Rehmatul-Lil Alameen scholarship program, Shafqat Mahmood said that the Holy Prophet (PBUH) has declared the acquisition of knowledge as obligatory, and education was also given priority in the state of Medina.
He has added that Rehmatul-Lil Alameen scholarship program has been launched for the students of the country. The program would be beneficial for students of Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.
Furthermore, Rs. 27 billion has been allocated by the government for this program for 5 years and it would be implemented in 129 public sector universities across the country.

It is pertinent to mention here that Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday has launched the Rehmatul-Lil Alameen scholarship program across the country.
Federal Minister added that 50% of scholarships in this program will be for women and 2% for persons with disabilities out of which 69,000 scholarships will be given this year.
