Renowned Urdu writer Masud Mufti passes away

Renowned Urdu writer Masud Mufti has passed away on Tuesday. 

The news of his death was shared by the writer’s son, Afaq Mufti, in a social media post.

“With great sadness, I have lost my father and best friend; my country has lost a great writer and the world has lost a great human…kindly keep my father Masud Mufti in your prayers”, he wrote in a Facebook post.

 

His death brings an end to  an era of sophistication, nobility, and elegance in Urdu literature.

Masud Mufti is a Pakistani writer known for his books on the 1971 war. He served in the Civil Service of Pakistan (District Management Group) and retired from the service in 1994. 

He also wrote articles in English and Urdu press of Pakistan till 2009, but for the past few years he was mostly pursuing the life-long hobby of writing Urdu literature.

His remarkable works  include Hum Nafs, Chehray, Chehray aur Mohray, and Lamhe.
