Eid ul Fitr in Pakistan: Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting in session to sight Shawwal moon
Meeting of Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee underway in Islamabad

Ruet-e-Hilal Committee meeting is in session after Maghrib prayers on Thursday to sight the Shawwal moon and ascertain the Eid ul Fitr date in Pakistan.
Chairman Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad is presiding the central meeting in Islamabad.
Representatives of Sparco are also present in the meeting.
While zonal and district committees are underway simultaneously at their respective headquarters.
Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has released the coordinates and chances for sighting the moon earlier in the day.
“According to astronomical parameters, there is no chance of sighting the new moon of Shawwal, 1444 AH on the evening of April 20, 2023, i.e on 29th Ramazan, 1444 AH,” the department said.
“According to climate record, the weather is expected to be fair/partly cloudy in most parts of the country,” PMD added.

The federal government has announced that it had approved a five-day Eid holiday from the 21st to the 25th of April.
