Russia Offers to Mediate Israel-Iran Conflict
Uranium Storage Proposal Still on Table Amid Escalation

Russia remains ready to mediate the conflict between Israel and Iran, with its previous proposal to store Iranian uranium in Russia still on the table, according to Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov.
This proposal involves removing highly enriched uranium from Iran and converting it into fuel for civilian reactors as a means to de-escalate tensions. However, the outbreak of hostilities has complicated the situation significantly,
Peskov emphasized that Russia is prepared to take all necessary steps to address the root causes of the crisis but noted that the situation is escalating alarmingly, which hampers efforts toward a peaceful resolution. He also condemned actions that have led to the dangerous escalation and pointed out that Israeli military strikes have consolidated Iranian society against these attacks.
The Kremlin’s stance is that the underlying issues of the conflict must be confronted and resolved through political and diplomatic means. Russia has maintained communication with both Israeli and Iranian leaders to manage the situation, underscoring its role as a potential mediator despite the complexities.
Meanwhile, U.S. President Donald Trump expressed hope for a quick peace and mentioned the possibility of Russian President Vladimir Putin playing a supportive role in mediation efforts.
However, the European Union has stated that Russia lacks credibility as an objective mediator due to its close ties with Iran.
Russia continues to offer mediation and its uranium storage proposal as tools to help defuse the Israel-Iran conflict, but escalating hostilities have made the situation more challenging to resolve peacefully.
