Sahibzada Hamid Raza Resigns from PTI Party Positions

Raza, who is the Sunni Ittehad Council leader, has also decided to resign from the National Assembly.

Inflicting another setback, Sahibzada Hamid Raza has officially resigned from his roles within the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party, stepping down from both the Core Committee and the political committee.

This decision comes amid significant internal criticism following PTI’s recent protest in Islamabad, which did not achieve its intended goals, particularly regarding the release of party founder Imran Khan.

In addition to resigning from these committees, Raza, who leads the Sunni Ittehad Council, is also set to resign from his position in the National Assembly.

As reported, Sahibzada Hamid Raza plans to submit this resignation after a meeting with PTI leadership, where he will discuss his departure further.

His resignation is part of a broader trend within PTI, as other leaders, including Secretary General Salman Akram Raja, have also stepped down amid the party’s turmoil following recent protests and subsequent crackdowns on party members by authorities.

Raza’s exit highlights ongoing challenges within PTI as it navigates internal dissent and public scrutiny following its recent actions.

Raza’s decision is largely attributed to internal party criticism and disagreements regarding the effectiveness of PTI’s protest on November 24, 2024. Many leaders and members expressed dissatisfaction with the party’s strategy and execution during this event, which did not achieve its primary goal of securing the release of PTI founder Imran Khan.
