Saima Mohsin wins right to sue CNN for ‘unfair dismissal, discrimination’
Employment Tribunal will hear her case on unfair dismissal disability discrimination & equalpay in London
Saima Mohsin British-Pakistani journalist has won the right to sue CNN for “unfair dismissal, disability, and race discrimination”.
Deadline reported on Tuesday that Judge Klimov has approved Saima Mohsin’s application following last month’s preliminary hearing.
Saima Mohsin’s case, who now works on a freelance basis for Sky News, will now be put before a full tribunal at the London Central Employment Tribunal.
As reported, a date for that hearing is yet to be determined but will review issues of dismissal, disability discrimination, victimization, failure to make reasonable adjustments, and equal pay in relation to claims after March 1, 2017.
A separate claim of racial discrimination was adjudged to fall outside of this period of consideration; hence that charge will not be put before the tribunal.
Following the judgment, Saima in a tweet said, “I won! I won the hearing against CNN. Employment Tribunal will hear my case on unfair dismissal #disability discrimination & #equalpay in London.”

Thanking people for their support, Saima Mohsin added, “I was injured in the field, not given adequate support or alternative duties, and let go. This is not how #journalists risking their lives should be treated by #media organisations.”
