Saudi Arabia still not accepting applications for Hajj, informs Federal Minister for Religious Affairs Noor-ul-Haq.
While speaking to journalists on Wednesday, federal minister said that the grand event might be affected this year as well.
He added that the Kingdom yet has not signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Pakistan regarding Hajj.
Noor-ul-Haq also added that he knows that people are concerned about the possibility of Hajj this year.
He said that he is “constantly in touch with the Saudi Arabian authorities in this regard.”
A few days earlier, the COVID-19 vaccination shot was made mandatory for pilgrims for attending Hajj 2021.
As part of new guidelines in wake of the coronavirus pandemic, Hajjis are required to administer the COVID-19 dose before their departure to Saudi Arabia.
The pilgrims going for Hajj from all over the world are to be vaccinated against coronavirus in their own countries, as per the sources.
In 2020, Saudi Arabia had allowed only about 1,000 pilgrims residing in the kingdom to perform the Hajj.
The annual pilgrimage has been scaled back due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
