Karachi: Clashes erupt amid SC orders to demolish Aladin Shopping Mall and Pavilion End Club

Clashes erupt between protesters and the police force on Tuesday afternoon amid SC orders to demolish Aladin Shopping Mall and Pavilion End Club situated at Karachi’s Rashid Minhas Road.

Police and protesters came face to face during the operation against encroachments on the orders of the Supreme Court.

The police charged and used tear gas shelling to disperse protesters.

As the police tried to push back the protestors several people including two policemen were injured.

 While the police also arrested many protesters.

The district administration reached the site along with heavy machinery to demolish Aladin Shopping Mall and Pavilion End Club in presence of a heavy contingent of police.

Director KMC Tariq Siddiqui said that the Pavilion End Club and shopping mall, which have been built illegally, should be demolished.

He said that the club and shops are constructed on an area of ​​more than 12 acres and the order of the Supreme Court has to be implemented.

According to Bashir Siddiqui, Director, Anti-Encroachment Department, they are facing resistance from shopkeepers, but court orders will be complied with.

The Supreme Court on Monday ordered the authorities to demolish the shopping Mall and the recreational club within two days.

Later, the Anti-Encroachment Department started demolishing the Aladin Shopping Mall and Pavilion End Club.
