Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon goes into self-isolation after being in close contact with a person who tested posted positive for Covid-19.
The First Minister in a tweet confirmed that she had been pinged by contact tracers and quarantined, but as she has been fully vaccinated, a negative PCR test will be sufficient to end her isolation.
In her tweet, the first minister said: “I’ve had notification tonight that I’ve been identified as a close contact of someone who is positive for Covid.
“Accordingly, and in line with the rules, I’ll be self-isolating pending a PCR test result.
” Many thanks to all the contact tracers working so hard in NHS Test & Protect.”
The news came on the day as Scotland recorded a new record number of daily Covid cases.
On Saturday Scotland reported 7,113 cases that topped the previous high of 6,835, which was recorded on Friday.
