Senator Mirza Mohammad Afridi tests positive for COVID-19

Independent Senator Mirza Mohammad Afridi has tested positive for COVID-19 coronavirus, news emerged on Tuesday.

Afridi, hailing from erstwhile Fata, says that he had gone to Peshawar last week, where he had distributed ration bags in different areas of the city.

After experiencing high temperature and body pain for a few days, Afridi got himself tested “as a precautionary measure”.

His test results came out positive today.

As being reported Senator Afridi is currently in isolation at his home in Lahore, says that he is feeling better, though the symptoms persist.

Furthermore, he has urged his contacts to get tested as well.

Afridi is not the first politician from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa who has been infected with coronavirus; last month, Mardan MPA Abdus Salam Afridi also contracted  Covid-19.

PPP Senator Sherry Rehman has sent best wishes to Afridi and expressed hope that he will make a complete recovery.

“Just spoke to him (Afridi) and he sounded positive. He is young, normally very active, and can fight this off Inshallah,” she said in a tweet.

A day earlier, Governor Sindh Imran Ismail had tested positive for coronavirus.
