Senator Sherry Rehman calls out PIA for fat-shaming its airline crew
Senator Sherry Rehman has shot back at PIA asking it to focus on its operations rather than their crew’s waistlines.
As the national flag carrier, PIA welcomed its airline crew into the New Year with a weight check policy. The memo reportedly read: “Any crew found above 30lbs from the desired weight after 31st Jan 2019, will be grounded and referred to Air Crew Medical Center for medical evaluation and treatment until the weight is reduced.”
Senator Sherry Rehman took to social media, hitting at PIA’s policy.
Senator in a tweet wrote,” Will bring this gross sexism up in the Civil Aviation Committee of Senate. Suddenly we r hearing constantly about women cabin crew needing to look like models. Time to focus on BIG structural, safety and business issues @Official_PIA Routes and fleets r imp, not crew waistline”.

There is a constant debate going on social media over PIA’s decission to ground over weight cabin crew.
Why does PIA efficiency& performance always boil down to women crew's physicality? PMLN govt wasted millions on changing their uniforms& this government wants to fix their weight! https://t.co/eGVWMNKA8h

None of these women are overweight. They are healthy, fit, and they look fantastic. More importantly, you should be offloading pilots who get drunk before flying your planes. https://t.co/353Yx67ONR
