Senior journalist Athar Ali Hashmi passes away in Karachi
Senior journalist Syed Athar Ali Hashmi passed away in Karachi on Thursday morning.
Aged 74, Athar Hashmi was associated with the Urdu language newspaper, the daily Jasrat as chief editor.
Born on August 18, 1947, Athar Hashmi spent 44 years of his life working as a journalist and was the founding member of Jeddah based first Urdu newspaper, ‘Urdu News’.
His funeral prayers were held at Shahbaz mosque in Gulistan-e-Jauhar block 12 after Zuhr prayer and was laid to rest in Sakhi Hassan graveyard, North Nazimabad.

As being reported, Mr. Hashmi was not feeling well from the past few days and was a cardiac patient.
His death is a big loss for Pakistani journalism and is being mourned by the journalists.
