Senior journalist Fakhruddin Syed passed away at Peshawar’s Hayatabad Medical Complex (HMC) after being ill due to coronavirus.
He had been in isolation at home after testing positive for COVID-19 and was admitted to hospital five days ago after his condition worsened.
HMC spokesperson Toueed Zulfiqar told that Syed was being treated with plasma from recovered patients.
“His health condition improved after plasma therapy”, he added.

However, Syed’s condition deteriorated on Wednesday night, following which he was shifted to the intensive care unit and put on a ventilator, said HMC spokesperson.
Adviser to KP Chief Minister Ajmal Wazir expressed grief over the death of journalist Fakhruddin Syed.
He said that journalists inform people about standard operating procedures despite the danger.
Rs1 million will be given to the journalist’s family, who passed away after contracting Covid-19, announced Ajmal Wazir.
