Senior Pakistani journalist Idress Bakhtiar has passed away in Karachi on Wednesday, his former colleagues, family and close friend has confirmed.
Idress Bakhtiar,74, was admitted at National Institute of Cardio Vascular Disease (NICVD) after he suffered a cardiac arrest two days back. He was put on ventilator as he did not recover from angioplasty.
Bakhtiar had long served as a member of editorial committee at Geo and had also affiliated with Herald and BBC among other publications. He was also a senior member of Karachi Press Club.
His funeral prayers will be offered at Waseem Bagh in Gulshan Iqbal, Karachi after Fajr prayers. He will be buried at Yasinabad graveyard.
President Arif Alvi condoled the sad demise of Idress Bakhtiar on twitter.
“What a sad departure. My dear friend whom I had known for decades, the nice courteous journalist Idrees Bakhtiar has passed away إِنَّا لِلّهِ وَإِنَّـا إِلَيْهِ رَاجِعونَ May his soul rest in peace and may Allah grant his family the strength to bear this loss.” He wrote.
