According to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS), the Sensitive Price Indicator (SPI) has witnessed an increase of 1.38% for the week ended on October 29. From last week’s 141.04 points, the SPI now stands at 142.98 says PBS.
SPI is to gauge the week to week inflation rate based on prices of 51 essential items for all expenditure groups across 17 urban centers.
This week out of 51 prices of 17 items increased, seven decreased whereas 27 items remained constant.
According to PBS this week the growth in SPI came on the back of increased prices of tomatoes (46.58%), onions (5.71%), sugar (4.18%), and potatoes (2.60%).
