Sher Afzal Marwat Arrested Outside Parliament House
The police have stated that Zartaj Gul and Omar Ayub will also be arrested.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Sher Afzal Marwat was taken into custody outside Parliament House by the Islamabad police on Monday evening.
As reported, a heavy police presence had gathered outside the Parliament House in anticipation following a National Assembly session on Monday.
Marwat was arrested for violating regulations devised under a new law —Peaceful Assembly and Public Order Bill, 2024, a news source claimed.
A reported altercation occurred between Marwat’s supporters and the police during the arrest. Despite this, the police successfully surrounded and detained the PTI MNA, confiscating his vehicle before departing the scene.
The police have stated that Zartaj Gul and Omar Ayub will also be arrested.
According to sources, in addition to Sher Afzal Marwat, Omar Ayub, and Zartaj Gul more PTI leaders including the party’s chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, Hammad Azhar, Kanwal Shauzab, Naeem Haider Panjutha, Amir Mughal, and Khalid Khursheed would also be arrested.
Several PTI lawmakers, such as Gohar, Sheikh Waqas Akram, Sahibzada Hamid Raza, Zain Qureshi, and Shahid Khattak, are currently at the Parliament House, as per the news source.
Following Sher Afzal Marwat’s arrest, several PTI leaders and parliamentarians decided to remain inside the Parliament building. Barrister Gohar, Zain Qureshi, and Waqas Akram have since returned to the premises.
The sources also mentioned that Islamabad police are anticipated to launch a crackdown on the former ruling party’s Punjab leaders who participated in yesterday’s power show.
In a separate action, Shoaib Shaheen was also arrested from his residence.
It has been revealed that the Islamabad police have formally notified top Punjab officials about the planned actions.
The development occurred just hours after police in Islamabad filed three cases against the PTI leadership. These charges relate to the failure to end last night’s rally on time, stone-throwing at police officers, and breaching designated routes.
The cases were filed under the Public Order and Peace Act in connection with the PTI’s public gathering at Sangjani, Islamabad.
The first case was lodged at Sangjani Police Station for the rally exceeding its authorized time limit.
A second case was registered at Sumbal Police Station for deviating from the pre-approved route, leading convoys through Sadaat Colony and Srinagar Highway.
The third case, filed at Noon Police Station, concerns the stone-pelting at law enforcement officials, including Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Safe City and other officers.
According to police sources, the prosecution has been prepared, with 28 local PTI leaders—such as Sher Afzal Marwat, Zartaj Gul, Aamir Mughal, Shoaib Shaheen, Omar Ayub, Seemabia Tahir, and Raja Basharat—named in the cases.
