Sindh and Punjab announce winter vacations for schools and colleges

Both provinces aim to provide students and educators with a much-needed respite during the cold days ahead

The governments of Sindh and Punjab on Tuesday officially announced winter breaks for schools and colleges across their respective provinces.

In Sindh, the schools will be closed from December 21 to December 31, 2024.

While classes will resume on January 1, 2025. This schedule applies to both public and private educational institutions throughout the province.

“In pursuance of the decision taken in the Sub-Committee meeting of the Steering Committee on Education, held on 25th January 2024, under the Chairpersonship of Honorable Minister for Education Sindh, the Winter Vacation schedule for the academic session 2024 for all Public and Private Educational Institutions under the Administrative Control of College Education Department, Government of Sindh shall commence from 21st December 2024 till 31st December 2024,” the notification stated.

 

In Punjab, winter vacations will be observed from December 20, 2024, to January 10, 2025.

The chools will reopen on January 13, 2025, following the weekend holidays on January 11 and 12. This break also includes all public and private schools across the province.

However, the restrictions regarding wearing of Face Masks within school premises shall remain intact.

“Consequent upon approval of the Competent Authority, it is hereby notified that Winter Vacation in all Public and Private Schools in the Province of Punjab shall be observed with effect from [December 20] to [January 10, 2025],” the notification issued by the Punjab School Education Department stated.
