Sindh bans display of weapons for three months amid security concerns!
The Sindh government on Friday imposed a ban on the display of weapons across the province for 3 months.
According to the notification issued by Sindh Government Home Department Secretary Syed Ahmed Manganijo, a letter was written to the Sindh Government on February 21 by IG Sindh Ghulam Nabi Memon.
According to the notification, the letter in question stated that in view of the rising tide of terrorism across the country and keeping in view the ‘threat reports’ as per the information received from the law enforcement agencies, the strategy to deal with terrorism As there is a dire need for several measures across the province, especially the ban on the display of weapons.
According to the notification, the Sindh government agrees that necessary steps need to be taken immediately on the request of the IG Sindh to maintain the law and order situation and avoid any untoward incident.
It is further stated that the Government of Sindh, using the powers under Section 140 (6), has imposed a ban on the display of arms across the province for 3 months.
However, this ban will not apply to police personnel, law enforcement agencies and security guards attached to registered private security companies.
According to the notification, the Station House Officers (SHOs) concerned have been directed to register a case under Section 188 of the Pakistan Penal Code against those violating Section 144.
