Sindh Declares April 4 as Public Holiday Marking Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s 46th Death Anniversary

To commemorate Bhutto’s death anniversary, the PPP will hold a condolence gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh on April 4

The Sindh government on Monday announced April 4 as a public holiday to mark the 46th death anniversary of former Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

All government offices, educational institutions, and public sector entities under the Sindh government will remain closed on this occasion.

The PPP has planned a commemorative gathering in Garhi Khuda Bakhsh, Bhutto’s final resting place, where party leaders and workers will pay tribute to his legacy. Senior PPP leaders, including party chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and former president Asif Ali Zardari, are expected to address the gathering.

Bhutto, who served as Pakistan’s prime minister from 1973 to 1977, was executed on April 4, 1979, following a controversial trial. His legacy remains a defining force in Pakistan’s political landscape.

A day earlier, President Asif Ali Zardari conferred Pakistan’s highest civilian honour, the Nishan-e-Pakistan, to the late former Prime Minister and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) founder, Shaheed Zulfikar Ali Bhutto.

His daughter, Sanam Bhutto, received the award on his behalf, marking a significant moment in the country’s history.
