Sindh reports 1,726 COVID-19 case and 41 deaths

Sindh has reported 1,726 COVID-19 cases and 41 deaths on Monday.

This is the first time since July the province has reported more than 40 coronavirus deaths.

In a statement issued on Monday, Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said that 12,442 tests were conducted during this period.

The provincial total has increased to 186,212 while the positivity rate is 13.9 per cent.

He added that currently 22,219 patients were under treatment, out of them 21,350 were in home isolation, while 12 at isolation centers and 857 at different hospitals.

Meanwhile, the provincial death toll has risen to 3,060.

According to CM Sindh’s statement, out of 1726 new cases, 1484 have been detected from Karachi, including 584 from South, 455 East, 256 Korangi, 164 Central, 80 Malir, 71 West.

Hyderabad has 43 cases, Thatta 20, Jamshoro and Sanghar 16 each, Naushehroferoze 14, Umerkot and Ghotki 12 each, Tando Allahyar and Badin 10 each, Matiari and Shikarpur 9 each, Sujawal 8, Larkana and Shaheed Benazirabad 6 each, Jacobabad 5, Mirpurkhas and Sukkur 3 each and Tando Mohammad Khan 1 each.

According to the data provided by National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), country’s case positivity rate climbed to 9.71% for the first time in five months.

In a city-wise breakdown, the highest positivity rate has been reported in Karachi at 21.31% followed by Abbottabad at 17.86% and Peshawar at 16.66%. Hyderabad observed a positivity rate of 14% while Rawalpindi reported 12.09% and Lahore 9.74%.
