Spider-Man is out of MCU as Disney-Sony fail to strike off a deal
Tom Holland’s Spider-Man will not be seen in the Marvel Cinematic Universe in future films, as the deal between Disney and Sony fell through. Reportedly the two studios were unable to meet at a middle ground.
Despite Spider-Man: Far From Home broke all the records for Sony and become their highest-grossing film till date.

Reports suggest that there had been a dispute between the two studios for months now over the co-financing stakes. Marvel Studios owned by Disney had creative control of the Spider-Man films but they were only receiving a meager 5 percent of the first-dollar gross. On the other hand, Disney was looking for a 50/50 co-financing arrangement between the two studios for going forward.
Sony released an official statement, which reads:
“Much of today’s news about Spider-Man has mischaracterized recent discussions about Kevin Feige’s involvement in the franchise.
We are disappointed, but respect Disney’s decision not to have him continue as a lead producer of our next live-action Spider-Man film.
We hope this might change in the future, but understand that the many new responsibilities that Disney has given him – including all their newly added Marvel properties – do not allow time for him to work on IP they do not own.
Kevin is terrific and we are grateful for his help and guidance and appreciate the path he has helped put us on, which we will continue”.
