Strong Winds Intensify Cold Wave in Karachi
The windy conditions could keep the night temperatures between 9°C and 11°C.

Strong winds in Karachi significantly increased the intensity of the cold weather on Monday, with temperatures expected to drop between 9°C and 11 °C. This weather pattern is attributed to strong northeastern winds blowing at 25 to 30 kilometres per hour.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has indicated that these conditions will persist, contributing to a cold wave expected to last until January 17.
Residents of Karachi are advised to prepare for the chill as the combination of strong winds and low temperatures can lead to a more severe cold experience.
The current weather conditions are a continuation of a trend observed over the past weeks, where cold waves have affected various regions in Pakistan, particularly due to influences from Siberian winds
“As predicted earlier, strong winds started blowing in the second half of the day [on Sunday] which could last for the next 24 hours or so,” Chief Meteorologist Dr Sardar Sarfaraz said.
“The windy conditions could keep the night temperatures between 9 degrees centigrade and 11°C,” he added.
