Sugar becomes expensive than petrol in Pakistan!

The price of Sugar has shot up across the country and is currently being sold at the rate of Rs150 per kg in while one litre of petrol in Pakistan costs Rs138.30.

Sugar prices have increased amid inflation and is reported of being sold at different rates in various cities.

In Karachi, the price of the essential commodity in the wholesale market has gone up to Rs 25 and is being sold at Rs 140 per kg now. Whereas in the retail market the sugar kilogram is available for no less than Rs 145. 

On the other hand, in Lahore, the price of sugar has increased by Rs 9 per kg in the wholesale market and is being sold at Rs 135 per kg as compared to yesterday’s rate of Rs 126 per kg.

The retail price of sugar currently stands at Rs 140 per kg while the Sugar Dealers Association said there’s a suspended supply of the commodity by the millers.

In Quetta, the price of sugar has gone up from Rs124 to Rs129 per kg.

Whereas in Peshawar the price of sugar has increased by Rs8 per kg. in the wholesale market.

According to the president of the Sugar Dealers Association, sugar is being sold in Peshawar at a wholesale rate of Rs140 per kg while the retail price has gone up from Rs145 to Rs150 per kg.

It was the other day when hours after PM Imran Khan’s relief subsidy announcement, the utility stores increase prices of oil and ghee.

According to the notification, the cooking oil of different brands has been increased up to Rs65 per liter at Utility Stores, while the price of ghee has been increased up to Rs53 per kg, with an immediate effect.

Imran Khan on Wednesday announced a subsidy package terming it “country’s biggest-ever” of worth Rs 120 billion, providing a 30 percent discount on ghee, flour, and pulses to support 130 million people by ebbing away from the impact of inflation.
