Tehran Supreme Court Shooting: Two Judges Killed, One Wounded; Attacker Takes Own Life
The motivations behind the shooting remain unclear.

Two judges were killed and a third was wounded in a shooting attack outside the Supreme Court in Tehran on Saturday, January 18, 2025.
The assailant reportedly took his own life immediately after the attack.
The victims have been identified as Ali Razini and Mohammad Moghiseh, both of whom held significant positions within Iran’s judiciary and were known for handling cases related to national security, espionage, and terrorism.
As reported, the shooting occurred around 10:45 AM local time outside the Supreme Court building in a busy area of central Tehran.
Ali Razini, aged 71, had previously survived an assassination attempt in 1998, while Mohammad Moghiseh, 68, was sanctioned by the U.S. for overseeing unfair trials. A third judge, referred to as Judge Miri, was also injured during the incident.
The initial investigations revealed that the attacker had no pending cases or connections to the court or its judges. The motivations behind the shooting remain unclear.
The Iranian judiciary described the incident as a “premeditated action” and characterized the slain judges as “dedicated and revolutionary” figures who stood against threats to public security.
While attacks on judges are rare in Iran, there have been several high-profile shootings targeting influential figures in recent years. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident to uncover more details about the assailant and his motives.
