‘This is just a beginning’, Faisal Vawda reacts to Faiz Hamid’s arrest
Vawda also claimed that the PTI and the former spy chief are two sides of the same coin,
Independent Senator Faisal Vawda reacting to former Inter-Services Intelligence director general Lieutenant General (retd) Faiz Hameed’s arrest on Monday, said “This is just the beginning.”
Faisal Vawda lauded the news of a court martial against former DG ISI Lt-Gen (retd) Faiz Hameed, calling it a “step in the right direction” and signalling the beginning of a broader reckoning and also linked the arrest of Faiz Hamid by the military with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
“This is not just about corruption. The top leadership of PTI is also involved. The Faizabad sit-in case is just a small matter, in the coming days the PTI founder and the party itself will face the music,” Faisal Vawda said.
Independent Senator also claimed that the PTI and the former spy chief are two sides of the same coin, claiming that the incarcerated party founder Imran Khan and his party will face the music in the coming days.
Vawda termed Faiz Hameed’s arrest as a “tremendous decision” for Pakistan, stating that those who have caused harm to the country would be held accountable.
“We should be celebrating now that Pakistan is truly moving towards progress. Our way should be to do politics and let the institutions do their work. Now the process of accountability will be visible in the country,” he said.
The senator stressed that those who used the PTI founder and Faiz Hameed would also be held accountable.
“The PTI founder will offer feeble justifications. Politically, the PTI has now become an orphan,” the independent senator remarked, asserting that 40% of Pakistan’s issues have been addressed and that the cases from May 9 and the mutiny are nearing resolution.
“The idol has fallen. It’s all over,” he added.
Vawda also claimed and warned other parties involved in “poisoning” that they better start behaving.
