Thunder and Dust Storms to Hit Punjab from April 30 to May 4

Heavy Rain and Strong Winds Expected

Thunder and dust storms are forecast in Punjab starting from April 30 through May 4, 2025.

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) notes that a westerly wave entering the region and moist currents from the Arabian Sea will enhance the chances of scattered rainfall and thunderstorms in northeast Punjab starting May 1.

Key affected areas include Rawalpindi, Lahore, Murree, Galiyat, Attock, Chakwal, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Jhelum, Gujranwala, Kasur, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Faisalabad, Toba Tek Singh, Jhang, Khushab, Sargodha, and Mianwali.

From May 2 to 4, southern Punjab districts such as Multan, Dera Ghazi Khan, Bahawalpur, and Bahawalnagar are also expected to experience thunderstorms, rain, and gusty winds.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has issued a weather alert warning of dust storms, thunderstorms, heavy winds, and rainfall across most districts of Punjab during this period.

The PDMA has placed all district administrations on high alert and advised citizens to stay indoors and avoid open areas during lightning and storm activity.

The residents of Punjab should prepare for thunder and dust storms with heavy winds and rain from April 30 to May 4, 2025, with heightened vigilance especially in the highlighted districts.
