Two brothers – out of five – killed in a targeted attack in Karachi

Police suspected the attack to be an incident of “personal enmity”.

Two brothers – out of five – were killed and two injured in a targeted attack near Karachi’s Guru Mandir area on Thursday.

As reported, these brothers were going to the city court for a hearing when unidentified men on a motorcycle intercepted their vehicle and opened fire at Guru Mandir.

Police suspected the attack to be an incident of “personal enmity”.

According to Jamshed Quarter Superintendent of Police Aleena Rajpar, the incident is allegedly a case of target killing in which a car was targeted by six shooters on three motorcycles.

SP Rajpar said: “Efforts are being made to find out the motive behind the incident.”

She added a 9mm pistol was used in the firing, while 18 bullet casings have been recovered from the incident’s site.

She informed the media that both brothers killed in the gun attack were identified as Sajid Aurangzeb and Omair Aurangzeb, while those injured were Wajid and Zubair.

Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori has sought a report on the incident from the city’s police chief, a spokesperson of the Governor House said.

“Those involved in the firing should be immediately arrested,” the governor in his directives, adding that such an incident in the middle of the city is very alarming.

The CCTV footage obtained from the spot showed four unidentified men on two motorcycles chasing a black hatchback vehicle.

Two men out of them can be seen opening fire at the vehicle.
