Ukraine Must Be Included in Any Peace Agreement with Moscow: Zelenskiy

U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russia's Vladimir Putin and said Kyiv would neither get all its land back nor join NATO.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has emphasized that Ukraine must be involved in any peace agreement with Moscow, stressing that no bilateral deal between the U.S. and Russia can be accepted without Kyiv’s participation.

The statement from the Ukrainian President comes after  U.S. President Donald Trump held separate calls with Zelenskiy and Russian President Vladimir Putin, sparking concerns about potential negotiations excluding Ukraine.

As reported, U.S. President Donald Trump spoke by phone with Russia’s Vladimir Putin and said Kyiv would neither get all its land back nor join NATO.

Zelenskiy also highlighted the importance of European involvement in discussions aimed at ending the conflict, as he prepares to attend the Munich Security Conference.

“We, as a sovereign country, simply will not be able to accept any agreements without us,” Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy said.

He said Putin aimed to make his negotiations bilateral with the United States, and it was important that this not be allowed.

On the other hand, the Kremlin has stated that Ukraine will participate in peace talks “one way or another,” though details on direct Ukrainian-Russian negotiations remain unclear.

The situation is critical for Ukraine and its allies, as they face pressure from shifting U.S. leadership dynamics under Trump. There are fears that any agreement might undermine Ukraine’s sovereignty if it is not directly involved in negotiations.

The UK Defence Secretary John Healey echoed this sentiment by stating there can be no negotiation on Ukraine without its participation.
